SBST – Scriver Baker Sjobeck Trio
The Scriver Baker Sjobeck Trio is a Colorado-based jazz piano trio. Their main influences include Oscar Peterson, Miles Davis, and Ahmad Jamal, which is reflected in the repertoire and styles that they play. Each member also contributes their own original compositions, giving SBST their unique sound. They have toured across the United States and have performed in venues such as the Velvet Note (Atlanta, GA) and The Kress Cinema & Lounge (Greeley, CO). Between the three members, they have performed in Atlanta, Nashville, New York City, Seattle, Monterrey, Anaheim, Portland, and many other cities. The trio recently recorded and released a record with the jazz septet: Birdland that features their original compositions.
During their jazz studies, they have had the opportunity to play alongside Dick Oatts, New York Voices, Corey Christiansen, Greg Gisbert, Don Aliquo, Dave Glenn, and Darrell Grant. They have also had the opportunity to learn from the Jeff Hamilton Trio, John Riley, Conrad Herwig, Clay Jenkins, Adam Larson, Jim White, Taylor Eigsti, Harvie S, Phil Markowitz, and Ted Rosenthal.
Alexandra Sjobeck is originally from Idaho. She completed her undergraduate degree in Jazz Studies at the Manhattan School of Music and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree at the University of Northern Colorado as a Teaching Assistant.
David Baker grew up in Atlanta, GA. He completed his undergraduate degree in classical bass performance from Columbus State University, his Master’s Degree from the University of Northern Colorado, and is currently beginning his Doctoral Degree at the University of Northern Colorado as a Teaching Assistant.
Jameson Scriver is originally from Seattle, Washington. Jameson previously studied percussion performance and music composition at Central Washington University. He is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in jazz performance at the University of Northern Colorado.
